The Greenon Local School District Board of Education approved unanimously Thursday, Jan. 9, new Varsity Football Head Coach Kevin Ferguson.

Mr. Ferguson is an art teacher at Greenon High School and has been a football assistant coach with the Knights since 2011.

"Mr. Ferguson has worked with the Greenon football team through his work as a teacher and an assistant coach and we are pleased to have him as our new head coach," said Principal Rick Newsock. "As a dedicated educator and coach, I know that he will help shape our students into fine athletes on the field and, most importantly, fine young adults off the field."

Mr. Ferguson will also serve as the lifting coach this school year. His goals for the program are to develop outstanding student athletes who are bettered by participating in football; develop a program that the community, staff and student body can be proud of; and create a positive environment, high in enthusiasm and energy, that fosters student success.

“I believe there is a great opportunity here at Greenon to build a successful program,” said Mr. Ferguson. “I have really enjoyed my two years here. There is a real sense of family and togetherness. Most of all, I really enjoy working with our student athletes and I want to prepare and coach each of them, so that together we can build a program the community, staff, and student body can be proud of.”

Mr. Ferguson has been a football and wrestling coach at the middle and high school level for ten years at Greenon, West Carrollton, New London and Fairborn schools.
