Saturday, December 11

12:08 a.m. – To Dayton-Springfield Rd. for a report of an assault.  Woman stated that she and a friend were at the bar when she saw her ex-boyfriend’s girlfriend.  She said she started to leave when someone grabbed her by the hair, struck her on the face and grabbed her necklace.  She gave the name of two possible suspects but deputy could not get any information on either one.

2:55 a.m. – Man stated that he saw a vehicle hit a No Parking sign at Route 4 and Upper Valley Pike, and that he had followed the vehicle.  He said that they were stuck in traffic on I-70 near State Route 4.  Deputy asked the driver to exit his vehicle and noticed a “strong presence of an alcoholic beverage” from the vehicle.  The driver had slurred speech and glassy eyes and when he exited the vehicle he had to hold onto the door for support.  The deputy asked the man to turn off the car and he reached inside and turned up the radio.  The deputy told him that he was to turn off the car and was able to do so.  The driver denied being intoxicated and denied being in an accident.  When informed that there was damage to the front of his vehicle, he was surprised.  He was unable to successfully finish the first field sobriety test and said that he would take no more tests.  He was cited for OVI, seat belt, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control.
