Savanna Compton is a member of the Buckeye Country 4-H Club and will be a senior at Greenon High School in the fall.
She is employed by Rio Lima Tack and Feed in Medway. Savanna hopes to attend Oklahoma State when she graduates next year, with a major in agriculture. Her goal is to also secure a spot on the soccer team and perhaps the cheerleading program as well. She is a member of the Dayton Extreme Edge cheer program. One thing Savanna knows for sure is that she wants to become an FFA teacher. Compton has a long list of community service for both the 4-H program and in her community. She has been active in the food drive, wool gathering, and flower bed care. She is a dedicated member of the 4-H Camp program and has helped in a number of projects related to upkeep and care of the camp. Savanna participated in the Earth Day Clean-Up in Enon and volunteered to water the flowers in Founders Park. She also participated in the Relay for Life for the Clark County community.Savanna believes that participation in the Fair Queen competition has given her an opportunity to improve her public speaking and to gain confidence in interacting in social opportunities. She enjoys serving as a role model for the younger members of the 4-H program and helping them to prepare for the annual fair. She believes that she would be able to represent the fair experience as more than just “rides and animals,” and instead as a learning opportunity for area youth and a way to share their knowledge with others. She would like the community to know that 4-H “kids” spend a great deal of time preparing for the fair and learning to care for animals and practicing new skills in the miscellaneous categories, such as sewing and other hands-on experiences.
