On Saturday, March 3, 2011 we held our 56th annual FFA banquet. There were over 520 registered guests who attended the banquet. There were multiple awards given for activities such as soil judging, parliamentary procedure, job interview, public speaking, farm management test, greenhand quiz, fruit sales, and candle sales. Special awards were also given by Mr. Gierke and Mr. McCoart consisting of scholarship awards, leadership awards, record keeping awards, and participation in chapter activities. Scholarships were given to students by the FFA alumni. Our retiring chapter officers were given plaques for their services, and new officers were sworn in to take their places.
Five students were recognized for receiving their state degree:  Jordan Stacy, Kyle Green, Chelsea Thome, Sara Hupp, and Savannah Compton. Also, Ethan Legge is a graduate of Greenon High School currently in the process of getting his American degree. To win these awards, an application must be submitted, and certain qualifications must be met to win these degrees in FFA. One of the most important events of the evening was the crowning of our new FFA queen. The runner-ups were Teddi Tankersley, Lindsey Strickland, Lizz Scott, and Sara Hupp; and our new FFA queen is Elizabeth Scott. The night allowed us to honor our chapter supporters, recognize special students involved in our chapter, and most importantly celebrate our Greenon FFA chapter and the successful year it has had.
