It was a very busy night last Monday during the Mad River Township Trustees regular meeting.   They approved a donation of up to $1000 for dirt for the Enon Little League Fields.  Dave Chapman thanked the board for the donation and for their ongoing work on the tornado sirens, which he said would protect up to several hundred people who might be present during games.  The trustees are coordinating with Village Councilman Rick Hanna on the siren project, which is now awaiting EPA environmental impact studies before going forward.
Krista McGraw of the Tecumseh Land Trust addressed the meeting.  The group receives yearly support from the township in its mission to preserve farmlands.  While soliciting future support, McGraw said that the organization is accredited, is not-for-profit, and currently is working on preserving four parcels in the township.
Trustee Kathy Estep will be meeting with the county soil and water district to continue work on the soil and water permits.   She also related that the bus service will be delayed again owing to the proposals being delayed.  Estep was also slated to attend a Speedway training on customer service.
Speedway LLC will also meet with Fire Chief Dave Leist to discuss disaster preparedness.  Leist also conducted fire training for several officers the day after the meeting.  Leist briefed the board on his new reporting format and talked about different ways he would be able to break down and analyze the information.  Trustee Joe Catanzaro stated that the reports were very useful.
Hustead Fire Chief Bill Young said that his department had handled a wreck Monday morning that was a result of the late winter weather that had descended.  He commended the road crews, saying that the township’s roads were  “the only ones fit to drive on.”  He added that the department has received its new fire hose.
Don O’Connor reported that the weather had surprised his crew, but that their roads were the site of no wrecks, and that the fire departments can count on them to go wherever needed.  They are addressing several projects even as the cemetery cleanup, slated for March 15, approaches.  O’Connor and Trustee Bob McClure attended cemetery in-service training where they were learned several useful things.
Deputy Bob Wagner said that there were two properties condemned and that two persons suspected in recent burglaries had been arrested.  The meeting adjourned with the next session set for March 19 at 7:30 p.m.
