Village Council Organizational Meeting Held PDF Print E-mail

The Enon Village Council held their organization meeting on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Government Center. 

Regular meetings were set for the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. at the Government Center.  The council members present voted to elect Steve Trout as the President of Council for this year.  Paul Kavanagh was appointed Village Solicitor at the rate of $125 per hour for the year.  
In other business, council members held the first reading of ordinance 2012-04, an emergency ordinance establishing the 2012 salaries and wages for Village personnel.  Council member Trout stated that the figures are a “range” and that none of the current employees are at the top of the pay scale noted in the ordinance.  The ordinance will be voted upon at the January, 10 meeting following a second reading.
Annual salaries were listed as follows:  Village Administrator $40,000 to $55,000, Village Administrator Assistant / Clerk of Court $28,000 to $40,000, Police Chief $40,000 to $55,000, Zoning Inspector $3,500 - $4,500, Mayor $7,500, Clerk/Treasurer $11,200 and Council Members $3,000.  Mayor’s Court Magistrate is listed at $200 per date.
Hourly rates for water plant employees range from $12 - $20, office employees $8 - $15.50, Mayor’s Court Clerk $11.75 – $16.50, and maintenance employees $8 - $18, all of which are dependent on title and job classification.  Police officers range from $10 - $21 depending on rank and full or part-time status.
A motion was made following the reading of the ordinance by council member Jerry Crane to pay the employees, as the ordinance will not be in effect prior to the pay period.  The motion was approved.  Mr. Trout stated that the monies are available for this payment.
Committee assignments were made at the meeting.  Mr. Beard will chair the water committee with Mr. Hanna chairing streets, sidewalks and public safety.  Mr. Crane will chair public service and Mrs. McCubbin, who was absent from the meeting, will chair parks and beautification.  Mr. Trout will chair both finance and legislative committees.
Council will hold their first meeting of 2012 on Tuesday, January 10.
