Students from three first-grade classes participated in Hustead Elementary School’s Christmas Sing-A-Long in the gymnasium.

Wearing Santa Claus, reindeer, and other Christmas-themed hats, the students sang nine holiday songs on-stage in front of their families in the audience. The students participating in the first Christmas presentation put on by first-grade classes at the school were from Jaye Lin Call, Lori Culp, and Carrie Hall’s classrooms.
“We kind of just went through and picked various Christmas songs, and the kids have read about various holiday traditions,” Culp said.
The teachers started planning for the presentation in November, while the students prepared by making gifts for the parents and reading comprehension sheets that were part of the program. After a dress rehearsal of the show in the morning, the students took the stage at 1:30 p.m. During the 24-minute presentation, students sang nine Christmas songs including "Jingle Bells,' "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,' and 'We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
“I think it’s been a coordinated effort all the way through,” Culp said. “Mr. [Darrin] Knapke’s [Hustead Elementary Principal] been very helpful getting things together for us, making sure that we have time and a place to practice, and then also our first-grade team working very well together to make sure that we have activities planned that coordinate to put the program together for a final product.”
