Members of the Greenon High School Symphonic Band and Indian Valley Seventh and Eighth Grade Bands performed a variety of holiday music for family and friends in the Greenon High School Auditorium on Wednesday evening December 14.   Under the direction of Mr. Jerrod Fry, the seventh grade musicians performed “Carols of Joy” a medley of "Ding Dong Merrily on High," "Go Tell It On the Mountain," and "Good King Wenceslas."
The twenty members of the eighth grade band performed a delightful piece titled “Merry Christmas Machine” written by Mark Williams.  The special effects were reminiscent of Santa’s workshop tunes plus background machinery one would hear in the toy shop.  Familiar carols included "Jingle Bells," "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Deck the Halls," and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
The high school Symphonic Band features the talents of 60 of the school’s musicians.  The highlight of their performance was “Scenes from the Nutcracker” arranged by Michael Story.
When the students return from the holiday break, the high school band members will begin preparing for the OEMA District 12 Band Contest to be held in Centerville in March 2012.
