Lisa D’Allessandris, of the Clark County Emergency Management Agency, presented Enon Village Council with a County-approved plan for disposing of waste from natural disasters.

The plan was devised following the remnants of Hurricane Ike that hit our area in September, 2008.

Mary Ellen Lindsey addressed council about the “Coats of Love” program to provide winter coats for those that need them.  “We need clean coats, especially for children,” said Lindsay.  She asked Council for a proclamation of support.

Village Clerk Debra Maurer informed council that the Clark County Board of Elections has changed the procedure to place issues on the ballot.  The deadline for the November ballot is now August 4.  Since this meeting was the last before the deadline, she suggested approval immediately.  Council voted to place the issue on the ballot.

Village Administrator Jason Rose presented a proposal to grind and pave Main Street through the village.  “Main Street needs to be addressed,” said Rose.  “If we ignore it, it will only get worse.”

The total cost of the project would be $327,000 and Rose said that an Ohio Public Works Commission grant would be available.  He said that the best chance to get a grant would be with an equal match by the village.  Council voted to seek grants for the project.

Rose also reported on the crosswalk across Main Street at the Library that had been discussed at a previous meeting.  The cost would be $150 to paint the crosswalk and erect signs.

Denise D’Agostino reported that the village purchased new chairs for the conference room at $300 under budget.

Chief Troy Callahan reported that the Enon Police Department will receive over $11,000 in grants for the DARE program.  It’s a 50/50 grant.
