We drive our tractors to school and when a transformer blows and turns the Greenon High School football field pitch black, we play football under headlights.  Midnight Madness at Greenon High School, Sunday, 2 August, continued despite the main transformer blowing before the beginning of the show, killing the stadiums lights and leaving the field in total darkness.

About 20 minutes late, Coach Jewel announced, “The team is pumped and we are continuing with the show. Just give us a few minutes, we’re going to pull our cars around the field and support these kids!” The crowd at Greenon cheered and applauded.
The team took the field in only Greenon style and performed their warm-ups for a nice size crowd of parents and classmates.  Coach Jewel then introduced each player by class starting with this year’s Seniors and ending with the new, incoming Freshman.

The Madness event ended with the team singing the  Greenon fight song to the crowd and we still finished by done by 1 a.m. despite the adversities.
If this event is a sign of the upcoming football season, ingenuity, determination and spunk will take this team far. There will be a team scrimmage Saturday, 7 Aug , 10 a.m. Come out and support the Greenon Knights!
