The Village of Enon quietly celebrated its birthday this week, turning 166 years-old on Tuesday, March 15.
Kristy Thome of the Village of Enon said the village was officially incorporated on March 15, 1850.
In 2000, Thome said the Village celebrated its 150th birthday in grand style, displaying a large cake on a trailer in the Fourth of July parade that year.
It’s a good thing that a municipality such as a village doesn’t eat cake, for I can’t imagine the burden of the local bakers if commissioned to bake such a huge confection.
On behalf of the Enon Eagle, we’d like to say happy birthday in honor of the village we’ve had the pleasure of serving for the past seven years, and here’s to centuries more of birthday celebrations!
